walk with me into the past

this is fort clinch, located on a peninsula near the northernmost point of amelia island, florida.

on a recent work trip, my friend and i passed by the entrance to this place, and, not knowing a thing about what we were getting into, drove into the park, paid the entrance fee and set out, cameras and phones in hand.

we stepped back in time to the year 1864.

this fort, begun in 1816, was never fully completed. it served as a military post during the civil war, spanish-american war and WWII.

what a neat discovery on a day of adventure.
