take your own advice

When she leaned over and whispered to the boy

“don’t do it if it hurts”

She almost fell over as the air whooshed from her lungs and the walls seemed to swap positions with the floor

“don’t do it if it hurts”

seems the obvious thing to tell a child who is pulling his cheeks out as far as they’ll go,

a boy who says “look at me, mom, I’m pulling my face off and it kinda hurts.”

it’s only the smart thing to do

to NOT do things that hurt

to NOT intentionally put yourself in a position of pain

it’s good motherly advice

advice fit for us all
